How it Works

Introduction

betconnect is a peer-to-peer betting exchange that Matches bespoke Bet Requests created and submitted by “Pros” to a network of “Punters” for fulfilment. Unlike traditional peer-to-peer betting exchanges, the Punter Matching the bet has an allocated time to review the Bet Request from the Pro before confirming the Match.

There are two types of user profiles that a user can create at betconnect. Each account type has different rules, features and functionality. A “Pro” account allows Bet Requests to be created and submitted to the betconnect platform to be Matched; a “Punter” account allows the user to review Bet Requests from “Pros” and Match them in an allocated time frame. Betconnect will only offer the functionality to Create Bets within Pro accounts and the functionally to Match Bet Requests within Punter accounts.

A Punter will be sent Bet Requests which match their personal preferences. They will receive a notification either directly into their betconnect screen or via their preferred communication method. Once received, the Punter can choose whether to ‘Unlock’ that Bet Request. Unlocking the Bet Request activates it for the Punter and registers their intent to Match. From the point of unlocking, they have an allotted time frame to confirm the Match. Once the Bet Request has been matched, the Punter can “Follow” the Bet Request with other 3rd Party bookmakers or do nothing and just Lay the bet through the confirmed Match.

        3. betconnect does not accept responsibility for any errors or omissions with regard to event and market data.
        4. Bets are distributed and notified to Punters by the betconnect matching Engine (hereafter referred to as “engine”), matching Punter account preferences to New Bet Requests submitted by Pro accounts.
        5. The engine will send each Bet Request to some or all of the Punters on the platform.
        6. These rules will apply unless superseded by the Terms and Conditions or market-specific rules

      4. Pro Account Rules
        1. A Pro creates a Bet Request using the “Create Bet Request” page, which allows the Pro to initially select the Event they wish to place a bet on. The Pro is then presented with additional fields which need completing before the Bet Request can be submitted. Required fields are highlighted and must be completed in full before a Bet Request can be submitted. The ‘Place Bet’ button will not be available until all required fields have been completed. The fields available for a Bet Request are:
          • 4.1.1 Market – The specific market that the Pro wishes to place the bet on based on the previously selected Event.
          • 4.1.2 Selection – Based on the market selected, the Selection will change. E.g. for Teams To Score in Soccer, the names of the Team for that Event will be displayed. For a full breakdown of Markets, please click here
          • 4.1.3 Bet Type – Only available for Horse Racing. The type of bet they want the Punter to Match. Either Win or Each Way can be selected.
          • 4.1.4 Price – The price which the Pro wants to place the bet at.
          • 4.1.5 Stake – This is the amount the Pro wants to stake on the Bet Request.
          • 4.1.6 Max Punter Stake (Optional) – This is the Max Stake that any individual Punter can receive. The amount cannot be greater than the Stake or less than £1.
        2. Once all the details have been completed and reviewed by the Pro, they click on the “Create Bet Request” button which submits the Bet Request to the betconnect platform, which then utilises the engine to source Punters to Match the bet.
        3. Once the Bet Request has been submitted it cannot be amended or edited.
        4. Once the Bet Request has been submitted it can be cancelled on request using the “Stop Bet” feature. The cancellation will only take effect when the “Stop Bet” request is accepted by the betconnect platform and implemented. After this point, the Bet Request will not be distributed to any additional Punters, but the Pro may still receive Matches for the Bet Request in the event that they are ‘Active’ with Punters prior to the cancellation taking effect. Only after all ‘Active’ Bet Requests have been either ‘Matched’ or are ‘Expired’ will the final Matched amount be known.
        5. Per Terms and Conditions 5.4, a Bet Request can only be submitted when there are available funds in the account to cover the bet and commission payable. Should the Pro attempt to submit a Bet Request with insufficient funds in the account, they will be prompted to make an additional deposit to cover the amount requested, or have the option to either submit the Bet Request with a lower stake that is covered by the available funds, or cancel the Bet Request completely.
        6. betconnect will charge the Pro commission on the stake of each bet successfully Matched by a Punter. The standard commission rate charged is 3%. betconnect may, at its sole discretion, change the commission rate charged to a Pro by sending an e-mail notification of the change with an immediate effective date and governing all Bet Requests submitted after the e-mail notification is sent.
        7. Where the Bet Request has odds of Evens or greater, the commission charged is the Pro commission rate multiplied by the stake. When the odds are less than Evens, the calculation is the Pro commission rate multiplied by the potential profit from the Bet Request.
        8. The Pro can see the status of their Bet Requests in the Bet Requests tab.
      5. Punter Account Rules
        1. The Punter will receive Bet Requests submitted by Pros as selected by the engine.
        2. There is a 2 stage process involved in accepting a Bet Request – Stage 1 is Receiving the Bet Request and Stage 2 is Matching the Bet Request.
        3. Stage 1 sends an electronic message to the Punter asking them if they are available to Match a Bet Request from a Pro.
        4. Once the Punter decides to unlock and review the Bet Request it enters the Stage 2 Matching phase, in which the Bet Request details are revealed dependent on the Punters Balance.
        5. In the event that the Punter does not have sufficient funds to cover the liability of the Bet Request, they will be shown the Bet Request Sport, Event, the Pro and the required Liability, but all other details will be hidden until the Punter makes a deposit sufficient to cover the liability. The Punter will be prompted to deposit at this stage.
        6. In the event that the Punter has sufficient funds to cover the liability of the Bet Request, they will be shown the Bet Request details in full and will be presented with the opportunity to Match the Bet Request.
        7. The liability a Punter will be allocated will not be greater than their Max Bet Liability, as specified in the registration process.
        8. The Punter has a limited time period in which to fund (if applicable) and confirm the Match once they have advanced to Stage 2.
        9. The Punter also has the option to either cancel the Match, or reduce their stake, during Stage 2.
        10. By Matching the Bet Request, the Punter accepts to do so at the stated Odds as specified in the Bet Request.
      6. Settlement
        1. betconnect will make every effort for bets to be settled as quickly as possible after the outcome of an event has been determined and will rely on the official result published by the event’s governing body. Alternatively, in the event that the information is not published as above, we will use publicly verifiable sources of information.
        2. Betconnect reserves the right to delay settlement should the outcome be unclear or controversial.
        3. Betconnect reserves the right to void or resettle markets should new information become available, such as cheating or rules violations.
      7. Voiding Bets
        1. Betconnect reserves the right to void any markets where the outcome cannot be reasonably determined.
        2. We reserve the right to void any bet for any reason before or after the event has occurred. This may be due to fraud, technical error or settlement error.
        3. We reserve the right to recover funds that were disbursed in error.
      8. Exceptional Circumstances
        1. Abandonments – If the event does not conclude within 36 hours of the scheduled time, all bets are void.
        2. Cancellations – If the event is cancelled, all bets are void.
        3. Postponements – If an event is postponed more than 36 hours from the scheduled time, all bets are void.
        4. Change of Opponents – If there is a change in opponents for an event, all bets are void.
        5. Change of Venue – If there is a change in venue, all bets are void.
        6. Periods of Time – If the length of the event is modified, all bets are void.
        7. Dead Heat – In the event that there are more winners than expected, the winnings will be split proportionately.
      9. Dead Heats
        1. When a dead heat occurs for first place, the stake money on the winning selection will be divided by the number of winners and the full odds paid on the reduced stake. The remainder of the stake is lost.
        2. Where an each way bet involves a dead heat winner, the win part of the bet will be settled as above and the place part will be settled in full, in accordance with the relevant place terms. Should the dead heat only involve placed selections and results in more than the allocated number of places, then the stakes will be divided, as before and settled to the full place terms.
      10. Horse Racing
        1. Abandoned Races, Void Races and Walk-Overs
          • If a race is abandoned, declared void or has only one runner (also known as a walkover), bets placed on horses in that race will be void.
          • If a race is postponed to another day and the final declarations for that race do not stand, meaning the race is opened to new participants bets placed on that race will be void.
          • If a race is postponed to another day, bets placed at ante post odds will stand.
          • If a race is postponed to another day and the final declarations for that race stand, meaning the race is not opened to new participants bets placed on that race will stand provided the venue is not changed.
        2. Ante Post
Ante Post betting will cease at the Final Declaration stage and all bets after this stage will be “Non-runner – No Bet”.
        3. Each Way Markets Rules
An Each Way bet is made up of 2 parts: the ‘Win’ and the ‘Place’.
Each part is an equal stake, e.g. a £1 Each Way bet will have £1 on the ‘Win’ and £1 on the ‘Place’ (a total stake of £2).
The ‘Win’ part of your bet is on your selection to win the event, and the ‘Place’ part is on your selection to finish either first or in one of the pre-determined places.
If your selection wins, both the ‘Win’ and ‘Place’ parts of your bet will pay out. But if your selection only places, you will lose the ‘Win’ part of your bet (and lose that part of the stake) but get paid out on the ‘Place’.
The odds for the ‘Place’ are given as a fraction of the odds for the ‘Win’ and will be displayed to you when you place your bet.
The ‘Place’ part of Each Way bets will be given the following Place terms:Non-Handicap Races

          • 2 – 4 Runners Win Only
          • 5 – 7 Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2
          • 8 or more Runners 1/5 the Odds 1, 2, 3

          Handicap Races

          • 2 – 4 Runners Win Only
          • 5 – 7 Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2
          • 8 – 11 Runners 1/5 the Odds 1, 2, 3
          • 12 – 15 Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2, 3
          • 16 or more Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2, 3, 4

In all races the number of runners shall be the number of runners coming under starters orders.

          Things to Consider:
Please Note: Non-runners in a race can affect the Each-Way terms of your bet.
For example, if your bet is placed in an 8 runner race, and a horse later withdraws reducing the field to 7, the Each-Way terms will change from 1/5 odds first 3 places to 1/4 odds on the first 2 places only. Similarly, if a race is reduced from 5 runners to 4, the place terms will change from 1/4 odds for the first 2 places, to ‘Win only’.
