England’s James Wade will be eager to maintain his recent form when he takes on Peter Wright in the Premier League on Thursday night.
‘The Machine’ lost during week 10 to Mensur Suljovic but has not allowed that setback to affect him.
Wade claimed a third PDC title in eight days at the weekend after beating Jeffrey de Zwaan. A 8-5 success allowed him to lift the Players Championship 12 trophy and he also won the Players Championship 11.
Wright has struggled for form this season and he is seventh in the table. ‘Snakebite’ has not won in the Premier League since beating Van Barneveld in Aberdeen.
Wright needs a stunning finish to make the play-offs and he is 8/5 to win, with Wade 11/8 favourite.
The first match of the night sees Austria’s Suljovic face off against Daryl Gurney, with the former 13/8 to win.
Gurney leads the head-to-head battle 8-5 but the pair cannot be split in the table. They head to Cardiff on 12 points apiece and Gurney will be full of confidence after earning a draw against Wade in his last match.
A win for either would boost their top-four chances, with Gurney 13/10 to earn the points this week.
Fans in Cardiff could see fireworks between Rob Cross and Michael van Gerwen, with the pair first and second in the table.
Cross continues to lead the way but is just one point clear of his Dutch rival. Another win this week would surely end Van Gerwen’s chances of topping the standings, something he has done since he made his competition debut in 2013. With a close encounter expected, the draw is something to consider at odds of 9/2.
The final match of the night sees Michael Smith takes on Gerwyn Price. The Welshmen sneaked into the top four last week and will be out to silence his critics after being fined on Wednesday following an incident with Gary Anderson earlier this year.
Price is 12/5 to hit the most 180s, while the St Helens ace is 10/11 to find the T20 bed on more occasions.
