Chelsea boast an impressive record against Manchester United and they will be looking to maintain that when the two teams meet at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday.
The two clubs have become familiar foes in the FA Cup as this will be the fifth time they have met in the competition over the last six seasons, with Chelsea winning the last three showdowns 1-0, including in last season’s final when Eden Hazard grabbed the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.
It is not just the FA Cup where Chelsea have the Indian sign over United as the Blues have also only lost two of the last 17 meetings between the two sides across all competitions, while the Red Devils’ last win at Stamford Bridge came under Sir Alex Ferguson back in October 2012.
Chelsea certainly look a tempting price at 21/20 to win the match and that is before adding in their imperious recent home record.
Maurizio Sarri‘s side have only lost one of their last 24 games at Stamford Bridge, winning the last five, while they have also been solid defensively during that time, keeping clean sheets in nine of their last 12 home matches.
Indeed, Chelsea winning to nil is available at 5/2 and the likelihood of that happening has been enhanced by the news that United will be without two of their most creative talents, as Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard have both been ruled out through injury.
Martial’s absence will be a particular blow to United as he netted both goals when the two teams played out a 2-2 draw in the Premier League earlier in the season, with Ross Barkley salvaging a point for Chelsea by netting a 90th-minute equaliser.
Marcus Rashford is set to be United’s main attacking threat during Monday’s clash, but perhaps Chelsea ace Hazard is the most likely player to net as he has scored four goals in previous meetings between the two sides and is priced at 13/10 to be an anytime scorer.
